This unit covers restaurants and is mainly about food and drink. We set up a restaurant and gave it a name. Then used the workseets for some role play. We used the following vocabulary:

Weeks 27 & 28
Audio files have now been added to the entire programme which is great as it gives additional listening practice to each video.
As a change to the previous videos, week 27 is a silent movie about being in a fairground. We discussed the different types of rides, which are our favourites and which go “rapidamente”, “arriba” and “abajo”. Weeks 23 & 24 were fun to do…all about musical instruments! We started off looking at the different musical instruments on the worksheets and talked about what they are and asked ¿Qué instrumento es? (What instrument is it?). The lesson evolved and before we knew it the children we playing and tuning the ukulele!

Using the vocabulary learnt in the last unit I prepared a shopping list in Spanish with 10 items that the children had to find in our local supermarket. Units for weeks 21 & 22 are all about animals!

This post marks half-way through our Speekee Accelerate review! We have covered 20 weeks of lessons in just over 12 weeks. We’ve kept up with the worksheets easily and although we haven’t always been able to do all of the additional activities that are recommended we have done most of them in small group!
As a Home Educator myself I’ve found that the small group setting we have developed for this review is working really well for us. Our small group entails my daughter Chloe (6), Timothy (7) and Georgina (11) and my other daughter Carmela (4) but she usually only joins in with the games! Weeks 11 & 12
Weeks 11 & 12 cover modes of transport, colours and comparing sizes. The worksheets in week 11 are great and easy for the children to get on with. They include lots of repetition with nice clear instructions.
This post covers weeks 7-10 of the Speekee Accelerate programme. We did pretty well to keep momentum going what with Christmas and New Year, I think there was just one week where we didn’t do anything! It is definitely important to do a little bit as often as possible with this so as to maintain your child’s interest, even if that means simply watching the videos every day.
